As the director of ambulatory services, Mr. Taylor is responsible for overseeing the David and Donna Long Center for Cancer Treatment, oncology administration, endoscopy and special procedures, the ambulatory infusion center, all vascular access services, hyperbaric medicine, the wound healing center, the oncology data center, rehabilitative physical therapy services, all pulmonary services, the sleep disorder center, the hand clinic, and occupational, recreational and speech therapy. Attributing his success to his work ethic and interpersonal skills in his over 40 year career, Mr. Taylor enjoys working with his colleagues and developing relationships.
With a natural compassion for people, Mr. Taylor decided to focus his career on the technical aspects of health care. Mr. Taylor began his career in health care as a United States Navy Corpsman and spent several years as a paramedic in San Diego, California. With his vast experience in health care operations management, process improvement, and clinical applications, Mr. Taylor hopes to eventually obtain the position of vice president.
Mr. Taylor earned a Master of Business Administration from National University in San Diego, California in 1990, an Associate of Science from Grossmont College in 1987, a master’s degree in human behavior and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from National University in 1983 and 1981, respectively. He is a registered respiratory therapist, a certified respiratory therapy technician, a licensed vocational nurse, a certified hyperbaric technologist, a certified Six Sigma green belt, and holds a certification in health care management from the American College of Healthcare Executives. He retains affiliations with the Louisville Chamber of Commerce, the Association of Community Cancer Centers, the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society, the American Society of Quality, the Medical Group Management Association, and the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology. He is on the board of examiners with the Quality Council for the State of Kentucky, he is a board member with the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders of the American College of Healthcare Executives, and he is a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Mr. Taylor has been honored with various awards for his dedication and achievements, including Leader of the Month Award from Sharp Grossmont Hospital in 2008 and 2010, Center of Recognized Excellence Team Award for Quality from Frontline Nursing Leadership Program with Sharp Grossmont Hospital in 2008, Center of Recognized Excellence Team Award For Growth of the TomoTherapy Program form Sharp Grossmont Hospital in 2007, and Innovation Award for the Development of a Regional Endoscopy Screening Program and Women’s Health Center from Kaiser Permanente in 1994. He also volunteers his expertise and knowledge with various organizations, including the Susan G. Komen for the Cure as chairman of the Komen San Diego Race for the Cure in 2008-2009, as a member of the leadership council of the Border Sierra Region of the American Cancer Society in 2007 and 2005, the San Diego County Breast Health Coalition Council, and the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society.
