Riverside, CA, February 8, 2011, Dr. Henry E. Bennett, Behavioral Health Specialist for the California Department of Mental Health, has been recognized by Elite American Health Professionals for dedication, leadership and achievements in mental health services. A 39-year veteran of public service, Dr. Bennett is best noted for his expertise in mental health and substance abuse counseling. He recently marked his sixth year as a behavioral health specialist for the California Department of Mental Health, where he administers care for mentally ill patients and drug addicts in the court system. In this capacity, he coordinates with the mental health court system and advocates for incarcerated mentally-disturbed patients to be placed in programs that will help them function in society. Deeply fulfilled by his work for the state, Dr. Bennett attributes his longevity to his family’s support and to his dedication, compassion and faith in God. Dr. Bennett received a Ph.D. equivalent in psychology from the United States Army Medical Center. He obtained a Master of Science in psychology and chemical dependency counseling and a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, both from National University, as well as an associate degree in political science from AmeriCoast Community College. He maintains affiliation in such organizations as the American Counseling Association, the Council of Government, and the American Forensic Association. An active member of his community, Dr. Bennett serves as a deacon of Cross Word Christian Church and as an educational advisor to a local young men’s group. He also volunteers regularly with The Church of the Lion of Judah, the Masonic Temple, and The American Legion. He plans to increase his community involvement in the coming years.
