For nearly five decades, Ms. Long attributes her success to her ongoing education in new technologies and procedures. In her current position at Pender Memorial Hospital, she lends her expertise in medical technology to the hematology department. She became involved in her profession after her ninth-grade teacher spoke about medical technology; she knew it was the profession for her. Following her receipt of an associate degree, she continued on with her eduation at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in medical technology.
