Ronina Guthrie is an Echo Technician at the Washington Hospital Center, the largest private hospital in Washington, D.C., ranked nationally in four adult specialties. With a sophisticated background in ultrasound instrumentation and echocardiography, Ms. Guthrie is responsible for operating portable echo test instruments, works in the intensive care unit, and assists both outpatients and inpatients, working in doctors’ offices and nursing homes. She operates the new 1E33 Matrix Phillips Echo Machine, uses 3-D echocardiograms, and cleans TEE probes and changes the solution. Inspired by a long-standing interest in health care, Ms. Guthrie pursued her current career path; after studying criminal justice while in college, she found that a career in health care would provide a more appropriate avenue for professional development. She received a Certification in Cardiovascular Ultrasound from the Sanford-Brown Institute, and graduated as valedictorian of her class. She is an active member of the American Society of Echocardiography and the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Inc.
