A veteran of the health care field, Rose M. Rivera draws upon a wealth of practical experience in her work as a teacher in the Allied Health and nursing department of Lorrain County Community College. Best noted for her expertise in medical assistance and coding, she is tasked with coordinating students in the medical laboratory and assisting them in taking vital signs and performing blood tests. Ms. Rivera complements her teaching work with practical application; in addition to her classroom duties, she functions as a medical assistant and phlebotomist at Erie Coast Chest Physicians.

Over the course of her career in health care, Ms. Rivera lent her talents to Elyria Memorial Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, and Tri-County Medicine. She also dabbled in other fields, working for Plastic Enterprises, Inc., Q-Panel, May National Bank of Ohio and Emerson Network Power, where she held an assortment of positions over a three-decade span.

Ms. Rivera is a certified medical assistant and became a certified proficient phlebotomist in 2008 through Lorain County Community College. She had already built a strong relationship with her alma mater, having previously obtained an Associate of Applied Science, with a concentration in medical assistance and clinical studies, in 2008, an Associate of Applied Science in medical administration in 2007, and an Associate of Arts in business in 1981. Within the next five years, Ms. Rivera aspires to solidify her ties with Lorain County Community College by becoming a full-time instructor in either pharmacology, medical coding or medical assistance studies.

Active in several organizations, Ms. Rivera serves as an instructor for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Division, as treasurer for the American Business Women’s Association, and as range officer, treasurer and membership officer for the Beaver Creek Sportsman’s Club. She also volunteers regularly in her local fire and police departments.
