Rose Marie Dean, RN, BSN is a Coordinator of Regulatory Compliance for Shands Healthcare. With a strong background in patient care, regulatory compliance, risk management, house supervision, and nursing management and direction, Ms. Dean is currently responsible for reviewing reports, investigating, and analyzing cost, compliance and development. She processes hospital policies and procedures, and obtains appropriate licensure from the state for laboratory and biomedical waste. Ms. Dean is applying for a grant to conduct research on massage therapy and its effects on mature scars. For her professional efforts, she received a key nomination from Shands. In addition, she was recognized for assisting health care facilities to acquire Joint Commission Accreditation. She became involved in her profession because of personal experiences as a patient. She was also inspired by her mother, who holds a diploma in nursing. She attributes her success to her parents and five sisters as they created a loving, nurturing, and spiritual environment. This upbringing fostered her caring nature toward patients. The most gratifying aspect of her career is having the ability to positively impact patient care.
