Maupin, Oregon, February 2, 2011, Sharon DeHart, Physician Assistant and Certified Clinic Manager of White River Health District, has been recognized by Elite American Health Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in primary and immediate health care.

“Things can change so quickly. Be flexible and willing to change minute-by-minute,” Ms. DeHart advises emerging health professionals. A nine-year veteran in the field, she attributes her own success to the strong work ethic derived from her upbringing, and the support of her husband, Gary. As a physician assistant for White River Health District, Ms. DeHart cares for patients with hypertension, diabetes and respiratory issues. In addition to her expertise in depression and anxiety, she manages chronic, preventative, major illness and end-of-life care. Relentless in her efforts, she is willing to jump into new projects without being afraid of landing in the fire.

Experiencing an illness can be a terrifying experience for a patient unaware of its implications. Under Ms. DeHart’s care, patients experience compassion and gather knowledge about their specific treatment. Ms. DeHart works with them until they fully understand their bodies, why they are experiencing their ailments, and what can be done to alleviate their discomfort and hopefully eliminate the malfunction.

In addition to her role as physician assistant, Ms. DeHart serves the facility as a clinic manager. Making the most of dual Bachelor of Science degrees and drawing on experience from previous roles with a rural ambulance service and small rural hospital, she is able to manage all business and clinic operations with help from a great staff and under the guidance of a volunteer board of directors. Looking forward, Ms. DeHart plans to bring the business into solvency and pursue expansion of the clinic space. Currently, more space is needed at the clinic in order to bring in ancillary or contracted services. Benevolently, Ms. DeHart intends to obtain the much-needed resources for the rural community that she calls home.
