Tara C. Mauro, DO is a Psychiatrist for the U.S. Air Force. In her capacity, Dr. Mauro supports the initiatives of the government agency dedicated to the protection of the United States by utilizing proficiencies in psychiatry and addictions; she is in charge of handling intakes and overseeing staff in terms of how patients are doing during classes and groups. She also discusses patients’ addiction programs and medication changes, and handles checkout procedures and processes.

A wealth of knowledge and a great quantity of professional experience has led Dr. Mauro toward a path to success in her endeavors as a psychiatrist. Over the course of a career that has spanned nearly a decade, Dr. Mauro has shaped a versatile skill set, and honed sophisticated competencies that have allowed her to deliver quality service to her patients. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Louisville, and a Doctor of Osteopathy from the School of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Pikeville. She also completed a Residency in Psychiatry at Wright State University in Ohio.

Dr. Mauro was inspired to pursue a career in psychiatry by the experience and knowledge that she gained after completing her clinical rotations, which helped her to appreciate the love that she had for talking with people. She pinpoints the most gratifying aspect of her career as her being able to help her patients to achieve optimal mental health and wellness. Dr. Mauro has been honored for her outstanding efforts and an exceptional commitment to her field; between 2008 and 2011, she was featured in Consumer Report’s “Best of Psychiatry.” She looks forward to a bright future; in the years to come, Dr. Mauro plans to continue her military service.
