Winslow, Arizona, January 18, 2011, Ursula Baker, Clinical Supervisor of Winslow Guidance Associates, has been recognized by Elite American Health Professionals for dedication, achievements, and leadership in addiction therapy.
With 28 years of combined professional experience in addiction counseling, Ms. Baker provides direct services for intensive outpatient treatment and rehabilitation programs, and treats physical, emotional and spiritual abuse victims. The founder of Winslow Guidance, she developed a treatment protocol for addictions that differs from most by acknowledging addiction as a chronic, potentially relapsing disease. As the head of the program, Ms. Baker allows patients to return without shame if they are to relapse.
A believer that lives can be transformed through respect, dignity, and a welcoming and safe environment, Ms. Baker works primarily with Native Americans, and women with histories of physical, sexual and spiritual abuse. She acts as a development sponsor for Alice’s Place, a domestic violence shelter, and a founder of the Agape House, a sober living housing program for those attending treatment. Considering her work a calling from God, Ms. Baker is currently writing a nonfiction book about recognizing and treating co-dependency.
Ms. Baker holds a Bachelor of Science in allied health, substance abuse and addiction counseling from the University of South Dakota. She has also completed coursework in substance abuse and domestic violence counseling to complement her comprehensive experience in the field.
