At the age of nine, Amina Richards began working in the health care field as a junior candy striper at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. From that point on, she knew health care was her calling. Today, Ms. Richards has garnered 20 years of professional experience and lends her talents to the Partnership HealthPlan of California (PHC) as a health program coordinator. Ms. Richards joined the company’s staff four years ago and is charged with a myriad or responsibilities. In her role, she is tasked with managing the health care program that addresses the health of mothers and their babies, consulting with health providers, advocating for preventative health care, serving as a program liaison between medical providers in Solano, Napa, and Yolo counties, visiting hospitals and clinics, and managing the Growing Together Perinatal Program (GTPP) breast pump program and patient referral process. Ms. Richards also offers case management and technical assistance for partnership Healthplan of California, provides daily member/provider case management, creates and updates program guidelines, policies and procedures, and handles staffing, recruiting and training. A Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and Certified Electronic Record Specialist, Ms. Richards has won numerous awards for her stellar work. She attributes her success to her lifelong interest in preventive health care, and her passion and commitment to individual and community health education. Ms. Richards believes that her best years are in front of her, and she would like to continue expanding her skill set and industry knowledge in the coming years. Ms. Richards also would like to obtain a managerial position, and work in the comprehensive side of health care.
