Dr. Seed earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Psychology from Union Institute & University in 1982, a master’s degree and a Bachelor of Arts from New York University. An extremely focused and determined individual, Dr. Seed advises others in the psychology field to have the strength to withstand the tough side of life in order to understand what your patients are going through.An accomplished artist, Dr. Seed designed the catalog, “Imagine Art Under Ruth V. Sharon”. From a very young age, Dr. Seed learned to enjoy the practice of art and sculpting by watching her mother, Elisheva Velikovsky. Her mother, a world renowned sculptor, studied sculpting at Columbia University in the 1940s as a student of Oronzio Maldarelli. One can find Elisheva’s work exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. With the desire to promote both her own work and her mother’s work, Dr. Seed works mainly with pen and India ink, with watercolors, on leather, silk, linen, burlap and blotter paper. Dr. Seed recognizes a close affinity between her work as a psychoanalyst and as an artist. As an analyst she must anticipate a patient’s reaction to her comments; and, in a similar way, as an artist she must be open to anticipating the colors and shapes of the art she is making.
