Dr. Prypchan has 33 years of professional experience in her field, with nine years as an attending psychiatrist of the adult, child and adolescent psychiatry department for the Wyoming Behavioral Institute. On a daily basis, she is responsible for evaluating children, adolescents and adults in the inpatient units. Prior to joining Wyoming Behavioral Institute, Dr. Prypchan worked as a research associate of the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of the University of Pittsburgh. She has also earned the National Award of Scientific Journalism in Valencia, Venezuela, for three consecutive years between 1987 and 1989. Dr. Prypchan is the founder of Psychiatry Philosophy and the Arts, which she started in July 2008. It became a nonprofit in 2010. She has experience as an on-call physician and as a trainer for adult, child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Prypchan received an MD re-evaluation from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates in the year 1994.
Looking back, Dr. Prypchan attributes her success to her hard work. She became involved in her profession because she was inspired by her father, who was a psychiatrist. She feels that the highlight of her career was working at the World Psychiatric Association for five years and conducting research. Dr. Prypchan completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and she completed her residency in psychiatry at Universidad Central de Venezuela and her residency in general adult psychiatry from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She holds an MD, which she earned from Universidad de Carabobo, Venezuela in 1986. Dr. Prypchan received an Adult Psychiatry Board Certification from the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology in 2012. She maintains affiliation with the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
